Here you will find the writings of the poet Theodore Waterfield

Ineffable Between Us

I do not believe in God.
It is too big to see.
Its hands reach through me.
I listen for words
and it speaks with a sublime
vocabulary.

I do not know where it lives.
What it does between religious
observances.
Does it laugh or cry?
The world cannot describe
it beyond our human images.
So I leave it there
outside the passion of our conversation
last night as I tossed and turned
in awe of everything
that ever happens.

How we put each other
in each other in total faith.
Something true beyond every truth.
Without faith we do not exist.
I cannot exist. Would not exist.
Must not exist. What is shared
and meant. Love and Faith.
Faith and love.
