The candle lit at Christmas

\nwith no trace at dawn.
\nWhere\u2019s its light?
\nDoes it matter who lit the flame?
\nHow long it burned?
\nWas it better for burning longer?<\/p>\n
Is love more real if it\u2019s lasting?
\nWhere does life go?
\nHow are things recorded?
\nLike fossils.
\nLike waves that leave their fingers
\nwith the tide.
\nBy the tenderness of eyes,
\nor locks without keys,
\nthat guard our doors.<\/p>\n
Does size matter?
\nDo mysteries expand
\nor become smaller over time?
\nMust laughter fade
\nand never be heard again?
\nWho wraps these boxes
\ncrowding trees?
\nGenerosity, frankincense,
\nand myrrh.
\nChildren remembering toys,
\nsharing with other children.<\/p>\n
How does one define the life
\ngathering in closets,
\nclogging the heart,
\nhidden under stairs,
\nwhen we come along,
\nand something shakes inside?
\nDo not open unless you have
