I fail more often than I succeed,
\nbut what does failure mean?
\nA loose end,
\nan exit,
\nsomeone else\u2019s opinion,
\nnot measuring up?
\nTo what?
\nThe sky,
\nother people,
\na child,
\nthat I zig instead of zag?<\/p>\n
It means so many things,
\nit means nothing,
\nso I\u2019ve decided I\u2019ve never failed
\nat anything.
\nMy life\u2019s a rousing success!
\nI\u2019ve spent a fortune before I\u2019ve made it.
\nI discovered truth and buried it,
\nwho\u2019s to say what it was,
\nif they don\u2019t know what it is.<\/p>\n
So I\u2019m going to teach success,
\nstarting with children,
\nwho seem to succeed without our help
\nor in spite of it.
\nI shall teach proportion first.
\nAll failure is a step on the road
\nto success,
\nand loving to travel.<\/p>\n
I shall teach them the love of a journey,
\nto keep going past success,
\nto give up the ending,
\nto stop always stopping.
\nAnd appreciate the vast continuum
\nof never succeeding,
\nthe race of never finishing,
\nthe face never losing its smile.
\nBecause you haven\u2019t passed the course,
\nfinished the garden,
\nceased falling in love,
\nselecting monuments.
\nSo I fail with a light heart.
\nI never excuse myself.
\nI never regret that I tried.
\nThat nothing stops me
