\nComing to the pier with its cargo.
\nDrinking, smoking, indulgences
\ncarried to the edge of a bluff.
\nDenying sleep to multiply
\nmy days on earth.
\nUntil coming to the time
\nwhen I\u2019m docking that boat,
\ncareful to avoid breaking the ropes,
\ndestroying the pier
\nthat\u2019s my life,
\nbeing captain of the ship.<\/p>\n
Bringing to a quiet close
\nthe voyage.
\nA lingering walk about town,
\ndinner by the water,
\na drink or two with companions,
\nand then the sleep of youth.
\nA quiet conversation with my heart,
