For want of anything happening
\nI am going to the movies,
\ndespite the great theater of night,
\nwith infinity for a background.
\nI will watch my celluloid queens
\nfall in love,
\nmy heros capture kingdoms,
\nall the while asteroids approach the earth,
\na madonna is shopping at the grocery.
\nA poem is being written by a girl of seven,
\nwho will break the heart of the world.<\/p>\n
I watch the screen
\nunfold the plot of a love story,
\nconceal a murder,
\ndo an impossible operation without scars,
\nwhile a thousand flowers go extinct,
\na new universe explodes into light.
\nMy dearest friend dies quietly
\nof heartbreak.
\nThe miracle of an improbable storm
\nrages on a sea,
\nand I am transformed
\nby the drama on the screen.
\nHave a song to hum
\non the street outside,
\nfeel elevated with new hope and vision,
\nwatching snow flurries dart in the air
\nlike fireflies,
\nand go home
