{"id":1304,"date":"2011-04-07T01:31:07","date_gmt":"2011-04-07T00:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=1304"},"modified":"2011-04-08T04:32:53","modified_gmt":"2011-04-08T03:32:53","slug":"calvary-church","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=1304","title":{"rendered":"Calvary Church"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There was a space<br \/>\nat the edge of a meadow.<br \/>\nAn inlet of lotus and clear water.<br \/>\nHouses and fisheries<br \/>\nwith boats of unpainted plank,<br \/>\nsails and oars,<br \/>\nand a railhead to the west<br \/>\ncoming over virgin soil<br \/>\nwith black angular feet<br \/>\nand puffing steam.<\/p>\n<p>A meadow where people passed<br \/>\nby willow and grass.<br \/>\nPeople devout in their lives,<br \/>\nlooking for sanctuary,<br \/>\na place to come<br \/>\nin this beautiful place,<br \/>\nand thank Providence<br \/>\nfor its good earth.<br \/>\nA place to put their prayers and songs,<br \/>\ncomfort their sick and lonely,<br \/>\nand hear their children laugh<br \/>\nwith the sweetness of play.<\/p>\n<p>And from need and longing<br \/>\na church was born<br \/>\nbrought to birth<br \/>\nfrom quarry stone,<br \/>\ntimber from the woods,<br \/>\nglass stained by the indelible<br \/>\ninks of their earth.<br \/>\nA place to call Calvary,<br \/>\ntriumph,<br \/>\nthe ascension of good,<br \/>\nthe toil of their dream<br \/>\ncompleted.<\/p>\n<p>The resurrection of hearts made whole,<br \/>\na place to learn of God,<br \/>\na chapel for His word,<br \/>\nbrought to the town they loved,<br \/>\nSandusky,<br \/>\nand their church called Calvary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There was a space at the edge of a meadow.
