In what life should disasters come?
\nNot my life! My children\u2019s, my children\u2019s children?
\nDo I want the earthquake
\nin the 10th life? Or the fifteenth?
\nThe volcano that will plunge someone else
\ninto fire?
\nThe asteroid that will break earth\u2019s heart?
\nThe cruel plague that will sweep
\nwhole families away?
\nOn whom should the bell toll?<\/p>\n
If it were mine to say,
\nnot yet, over there,
\nin that war where there\u2019s enough harm
\nto justify more.
\nI don\u2019t have the strength to do that.
\nShould Providence say,
\nit\u2019s your call Ted!
\nSave your own. Save yourself.
\nSave the ones you fancy,
\nor we\u2019ll do it.
\nWe\u2019ll choose catastrophe,
\nand you can go hide inside your fragile skin,
\ninside what empathy and compassion you have.<\/p>\n
And all I can do is tell fate,
\nI accept the right to choose.
\nI will save my own.
\nFrom the first hour to the last
\nI will keep them from harm.
\nBut I would ask another favor,
\nknowing you are giving me no choice.
\nAs long as time needs to die,
\nlet me share the fate of all those
\nI could not save,
