{"id":1467,"date":"2011-06-02T19:37:52","date_gmt":"2011-06-02T18:37:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=1467"},"modified":"2011-06-02T19:37:52","modified_gmt":"2011-06-02T18:37:52","slug":"poets-around-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=1467","title":{"rendered":"Poets Around Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, they are rare.<br \/>\nPoets remembering and dying.<br \/>\nStruggling because they are children.<br \/>\nTrying to grow into something<br \/>\nno one fathoms, but themselves.<br \/>\nAnd they pass unseen among us.<br \/>\nThey do not publish their hearts<br \/>\npretend they have souls.<br \/>\nThey do not wander in drawing rooms<br \/>\nor teach school.<br \/>\nThey do not come from one society,<br \/>\na particular age,<br \/>\na minimal intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>They are just beautiful inside,<br \/>\nlike geodes, plain or rough,<br \/>\ncircumstantially glamorous,<br \/>\nperfectly formed,<br \/>\nor tender as newborn.<br \/>\nAnd brave confronting the world.<br \/>\nI have encountered poets<br \/>\nwho write only with their eyes,<br \/>\nwho have a gift for touch,<br \/>\nwho can modulate thunder<br \/>\nin a quiet voice.<br \/>\nWho are as ephemeral as snowflakes,<br \/>\nand as unforgettable.<br \/>\nSecret as a panther<br \/>\nin love with night.<\/p>\n<p>A mother speaking to her baby,<br \/>\na warrior pulling an arrow<br \/>\nfrom his heart<br \/>\nand watching the sun go down.<br \/>\nThey are wonder<br \/>\nwalking among us,<br \/>\ncomets scattering themselves<br \/>\nin the heavens,<br \/>\nand teaching us to breathe<br \/>\nthe deep, sweet anguish<br \/>\nof their poems.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, they are rare.
