{"id":1490,"date":"2014-08-30T01:58:26","date_gmt":"2014-08-30T00:58:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=1490"},"modified":"2014-08-12T17:00:59","modified_gmt":"2014-08-12T16:00:59","slug":"encounter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=1490","title":{"rendered":"Encounter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am always opening the locket<br \/>\nin myself.<br \/>\nIt was not always so.<br \/>\nI don\u2019t know where or when<br \/>\nI finished one life<br \/>\nand started another.<br \/>\nAn artist will reach the borders<br \/>\nof his picture,<br \/>\nand that\u2019s where it ends.<br \/>\nThe roads fall off the edge.<br \/>\nThe people sit still.<br \/>\nThe flowers never go away,<br \/>\nand table and chairs remain,<br \/>\nempty or full,<br \/>\nbut always the same.<br \/>\nBut I never know where I am.<br \/>\nWhy one day I cry,<br \/>\nand the next,<br \/>\nsmile as if grief were a stranger.<\/p>\n<p>And the poems just fall to the floor.<br \/>\nSome never finished,<br \/>\nlike leaves,<br \/>\ntorn and full of color.<br \/>\nNothing complete,<br \/>\nas if completeness will never<br \/>\nbelong to me.<br \/>\nAs if life goes on,<br \/>\nnever meant to be finished,<br \/>\nbut one moment,<br \/>\ndisappears, and never returns.<br \/>\nAs if I never existed,<br \/>\nas if all my beloved never existed.<br \/>\nIs there a secret inside me?<br \/>\nIs that what I go to?<br \/>\nThe ultimate riddle,<br \/>\nenigma,<br \/>\nand then,<br \/>\nas if my life never were,<br \/>\nit ends,<br \/>\nlocked inside without a key?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am always opening the locket in myself.
