{"id":1519,"date":"2014-09-03T01:55:36","date_gmt":"2014-09-03T00:55:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=1519"},"modified":"2014-08-12T17:06:43","modified_gmt":"2014-08-12T16:06:43","slug":"ladies-and-children-first","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=1519","title":{"rendered":"Ladies and Children First"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I write spontaneous letters to myself.<br \/>\nTo ladies and children.<br \/>\nI do not send them to men of the world.<br \/>\nTo sportsmen.<br \/>\nTo soldiers of fortune.<br \/>\nMerchants.<\/p>\n<p>Once I wanted to be a soldier,<br \/>\nto be brave, fight for a cause,<br \/>\nprotect and command.<br \/>\nThen I wanted to be an actor<br \/>\nand play out all the roles<br \/>\nlife could not give me.<br \/>\nAnd then a priest or prophet,<br \/>\nthough that lasted only a moment.<\/p>\n<p>And the letters accumulated,<br \/>\nwere thrown away,<br \/>\nforgotten,<br \/>\nand I returned to where I began,<br \/>\nto the mother soul,<br \/>\nto the child,<br \/>\nto the innocence of nature.<br \/>\nTo life and death.<br \/>\nTo bells ringing in the heart.<br \/>\nTo tears appearing out of nowhere.<br \/>\nTo dancing.<br \/>\nTo following comets in the sky.<br \/>\nTo waking up and letting the world<br \/>\nintroduce itself differently every day.<\/p>\n<p>And then writing a letter,<br \/>\na poem,<br \/>\na kiss put on paper.<br \/>\nNot to be read,<br \/>\nbut to acknowledge how much<br \/>\nlife is worth its moments,<br \/>\nand owning things is giving<br \/>\neverything away,<br \/>\nto make room inside,<br \/>\nfor more,<br \/>\nladies and children first.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I write spontaneous letters to myself.
