\nand have become an elegant evader

\npreferring pronouncement and homily,
\nbags of meaningless statements
\ngiven on cue.
\nFor this people give me high marks,
\nsince not making sense implies a certain wisdom.
\nCrossword puzzles are a hoot.
\nI can\u2019t do them,
\nso I disdain them,
\nand stand above general information.
\nI wander the world a 12th century man.
\nSwitching on lights,
\nhaving no clue how electricity works.
\nCars remain a mystery
\nof infernal combustion.
\nI have learned the gravitas of a stare
\nand the low pitched vowels of observation.
\nYou are given credit for not smiling
\nbecause it makes you look thoughtful,
\nmuch as I feel when a faucet doesn\u2019t work
\nor the toilet malfunctions.<\/p>\n
This is why I claim credit

\nIt requires nothing
\nbut the pantomime of the intelligent,
\nand because no one claims it,
\nit is a niche
\nthat confers a certain distinction.

\nand never gets called on in class
