I live my catastrophe
\nas well as I can.
\nI cut the skin off life\u2019s apple
\nin a thin, continuous ribbon.
\nIs this a ribbon
\ndecorating life\u2019s mystery?
\nIs this the DNA of love,
\njourney\u2019s end,
\nlittle poems,
\npeople coming and going?
\nStreets that flower
\nor are covered in snow.
\nWatching water fly past
\nthe prow of a boat,
\nwondering how long the sea
\nwill last.
\nHow long the earth will live.
\nPerhaps I should bite the apple,
\nmy mouth desperate for a kiss,
\nand leave a crater of sweetness,
\nas I pull my lips away,
\nsaying,
\nthis is what life is like!
\nPassion consuming itself,
\nuntil every bite is taken,
