I saw the craters of the moon
\nlast night.
\nThe telescope had lain in the box
\nfor a year.
\nI could not let the universe go by
\nwithout Jackie and Michael seeing it!
\nSo in the twilight I brought it out
\nand pointed it at the moon.
\nThe sky became more vast
\nthan I had ever seen it!
\nThe air was a sigh
\ninside the emptiness of a bluff,
\nand aghast,
\nI thought,
\nwhose house am I entering
\nwith so many windows?<\/p>\n
And I crossed my agnostic heart,
\nand focused on the glimmering planet
\nlooking back at me,
\nand saw the lines and fissures
\nof an eternal day.
\nIt was art
\nsuch as I have never seen it.
\nDesolation and sleep.
\nStillness and quiet.
\nAnd in awe
\nI muttered,
\nyes, to life,
\nyes, to God,
\nyes, to the trust
