{"id":1920,"date":"2016-10-20T01:49:45","date_gmt":"2016-10-20T00:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=1920"},"modified":"2016-10-18T01:54:59","modified_gmt":"2016-10-18T00:54:59","slug":"nothing-is-trash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=1920","title":{"rendered":"Nothing is Trash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I write trash like everybody else.<br \/>\nPearls, tin cans, the heap of history<br \/>\nmade of paper snowballs.<br \/>\nLetters never sent.<br \/>\nFailures of passion.<br \/>\nIn our best clothes<br \/>\nwe tidy ourselves,<br \/>\nthrow trash in boxes,<br \/>\nand present ourselves<br \/>\nlike a flower,<br \/>\nthat felt no storm, cold<br \/>\nin its gestation.<br \/>\nThe flower opens its petals<br \/>\nin longing.<br \/>\nThe pale of morning<br \/>\nor the fire of noon.<br \/>\nWe are not trash.<br \/>\nWe do not deserve the barrel,<br \/>\ncollecting the distaff<br \/>\nof our joy and suffering.<\/p>\n<p>I write trash that has<br \/>\nthe destruction of the lotus<br \/>\nin its center.<br \/>\nThe old face that is a child.<br \/>\nIf I were the sea<br \/>\nI would want to collect<br \/>\nall the debris left of a life,<br \/>\nand carry it in my tide,<br \/>\nto the sepulcher of my depths,<br \/>\nand tell all the life in my heart,<br \/>\nthis is an orphan,<br \/>\nready to be born.<br \/>\nSing to it.<br \/>\nStroke its wounded heart,<br \/>\nand when we\u2019re ready,<br \/>\nI\u2019ll send it back<br \/>\nlike a beautiful shell,<br \/>\nnot trash at all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I write trash like everybody else.
