The hurricane does its housekeeping
\nover the turbid sea,
\nseizing the waves,
\nbrushing their phantasmal feathers
\ninto flying spray,
\nuntil the sanctum of the mighty corpus
\nof water is cleansed of its malaise,
\nand returned to a galaxy of light
\nwhen the storm passes.<\/p>\n
So do I work removing the detritus
\nfrom my life,
\nsweeping the floor
\ncasting the tracked in dirt
\nto the wind.
\nBringing order to chaos.
\nThe cleansing of the soul,
\nthe flooding of deltas and fields.
\nThe renewal of hope and wonder.<\/p>\n
Bird poop falling on my head,
\nhumbly noted.
\nToilet taken in a garden.
\nBaptismal water alive with life.
\nOur taking of fruit from
\nthe world\u2019s orchards.
\nAll of this consonant with
\nmusic, poetry, picture and dance.
\nTasks that bring renewal and order,
\nand teach us
\none does not create beauty
