I am quite philosophical
\nin the winter.
\nNothing to do.
\nLooking around.
\nFollowing the festivals of Christmas,
\nNew Year\u2019s,
\nmakeshift holidays for dead presidents,
\nand then sit still and wait for spring.
\nRearrange spoons on the table,
\nbottle time for later living,
\nand say outrageous things to myself.
\nPretending to know what\u2019s what,
\nand chasing people away.
\nOnce I did that.<\/p>\n
Now,
\nI say things to myself,
\nand wonder where the snowdrops are.
\nThe little bells of winter.
\nThe only flower,
\nmixed up,
\nblossoming in the cold.
\nI think I will fall into my solecism,
\nredesign the seasons,
\ndeclare a moratorium on February,
\nand stop loathing
\na perfectly beautiful time.
\nOnly now,
