{"id":2131,"date":"2016-02-14T00:51:53","date_gmt":"2016-02-13T23:51:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=2131"},"modified":"2016-02-02T23:36:27","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T22:36:27","slug":"month-of-the-hungry-moon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=2131","title":{"rendered":"Month of the Hungry Moon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am going from the dark desert<br \/>\nof my moon,<br \/>\nthe white open flower of my dream.<br \/>\nI am going with the silver emptiness<br \/>\nof my eyes,<br \/>\nto see,<br \/>\nto be warm,<br \/>\nto feel the flight of my vacuumless wings,<br \/>\nto reach the end of the infinite wall,<br \/>\nto touch the beginnings of eternal dust.<\/p>\n<p>I want to see time measured by clocks,<br \/>\nhear an hour pass in the silence of sleep.<br \/>\nI need this to be true,<br \/>\nto be more than a ghost,<br \/>\na fog.<br \/>\nI need the dimensions of the world<br \/>\ninside me like a sea,<br \/>\nlike an ocean full of dawn and light,<br \/>\nswallowing the sun,<br \/>\nraising the stars.<\/p>\n<p>I need this in the month of my hungry moon,<br \/>\nthe pain of my birth,<br \/>\nthe pain of my dying.<br \/>\nIf you ask why I care,<br \/>\nI\u2019m a different species<br \/>\nthat lives without questions,<br \/>\nthat lives in the recesses<br \/>\nand the ceiling of the air.<br \/>\nI am an Indian\u2019s child,<br \/>\nthe son of a machinist,<br \/>\noffspring of words.<\/p>\n<p>I have lived and died every day of my life,<br \/>\nI have taken nothing for granted.<br \/>\nI have been given color and light,<br \/>\nand perfume,<br \/>\nand fear,<br \/>\nfelt the love of a tree,<br \/>\nconversed with the emptiness of a glass.<br \/>\nTo know,<br \/>\nto know,<br \/>\nand in the end they have told me,<br \/>\nbe still and you will know,<br \/>\nand be friend<br \/>\nto a blade of grass.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am going from the dark desert of my moon, the white open flower of my dream.
