{"id":2608,"date":"2012-08-07T03:24:38","date_gmt":"2012-08-07T02:24:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=2608"},"modified":"2012-08-07T03:24:38","modified_gmt":"2012-08-07T02:24:38","slug":"a-girls-poem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=2608","title":{"rendered":"A Girl&#8217;s Poem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am looking for a poem<br \/>\nI wrote for a girl<br \/>\nlooking for a poem.<br \/>\nThat she was lovely as a poem<br \/>\nI did not say.<br \/>\nI gave her pencil and paper<br \/>\nand said,<br \/>\npoems wear words,<br \/>\nlike you wear clothes.<br \/>\nClothes present the face,<br \/>\nthe form and the intangibles<br \/>\nof the heart and soul.<br \/>\nSo if you want to find a poem<br \/>\ndo not worry about its clothes.<br \/>\nLook at the paper<br \/>\nand see what you feel.<\/p>\n<p>If it\u2019s love<br \/>\nyou will have a curl,<br \/>\na pair of eyes,<br \/>\nthe shape of a mouth<br \/>\nwith a word on its lips.<br \/>\nWatch the lips move<br \/>\nand write that word.<br \/>\nWatch the eyes see<br \/>\nand tell us what they see.<br \/>\nWhich way does the curl fall?<br \/>\nWhat color colors it?<br \/>\nAnd a poem begins in you.<br \/>\nA name finds a name,<br \/>\nand its sound will put a<br \/>\nword on the paper.<\/p>\n<p>The sounds of words<br \/>\nwill chase each other<br \/>\nlike children chasing.<br \/>\nLet them play,<br \/>\nuntil the page is full.<br \/>\nAnd you have a poem<br \/>\nfor which you are responsible.<br \/>\nSomething sacred and alive<br \/>\nwith you inside it.<br \/>\nAnd it will stay where you are<br \/>\nas long as you are,<br \/>\nand ring from your heart<br \/>\nwhen you think in poetry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am looking for a poem I wrote for a girl looking for a poem.
