In March I fled to Florida,

\nabout the yard before I left,
\nand fragile little iris
\nblue as eyes of sky.
\nLater by the shore
\nI dozed and watched
\nthrough narrow lids,
\ngalaxies of light
\nglittering on the water.
\nMorning glories come to mind,
\na weathered fence,
\nAugust in Ohio,
\na quiet pause in summer.
