Why is that solitary light
\nshining in that window?
\nWhy does one star,
\nassume a face
\nno other star can use?
\nIt is a mystery,
\nand only the heart can suggest
\nwhy the universe has polarity,
\nhas places to mark its roads,
\nsingularities to absorb all meaning.<\/p>\n
Does the light say,
\nin your absence,
\nthis is what you are,
\na clear shining presence,
\nthat in the darkness
\nI see only you?
\nIn love,
\nthere is only that one
\npure guiding smile,
\nthe sound of one tone,
\na symphony of one great note
\nencompassing the world.<\/p>\n
So the light gives me comfort,
\npassing by the door of that house,
\nwith its dark windows,
\nits shadowed door.

\nplaced to show a way,
\nto commemorate a love,
\nto be in absence,
\neverything that fills the heart,
