{"id":2859,"date":"2012-11-22T02:33:37","date_gmt":"2012-11-22T01:33:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=2859"},"modified":"2012-11-22T02:33:37","modified_gmt":"2012-11-22T01:33:37","slug":"falling-in-the-february-snow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=2859","title":{"rendered":"Falling in the February Snow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This winter is beautiful and savage.<br \/>\nI love the snow.<br \/>\nHow gentle it lies on the ground.<br \/>\nHow quiet it makes the walls of the world.<br \/>\nBeing hard of hearing it helps me hear.<br \/>\nI hear earth sleeping under the snow.<br \/>\nI hear chimes in the trees.<br \/>\nBut my knees ache lifting me.<br \/>\nThe freezing and melting<br \/>\nhave put a glassy porcelain<br \/>\non its surface and my knees collapsed<br \/>\nputting me in a crouch of prayer<br \/>\non the ice.<\/p>\n<p>I felt bewildered, like a child<br \/>\nwithout its legs.<br \/>\nWhy was I made unable to fly?<br \/>\nThings die because of the snow.<br \/>\nIts cold enters the heart<br \/>\nand stabs it with a sword.<br \/>\nIt has the sad eyes of death.<br \/>\nWhen I laid on the ice I cried,<br \/>\nsaying a prayer.<\/p>\n<p>I will be patient facing my loss,<br \/>\nmy freedom.<br \/>\nThe joy of ever walking with<br \/>\nthe sure forte of youth.<br \/>\nI caught my breath and dreamed for a moment.<br \/>\nBear me for awhile, I said.<br \/>\nI will never be used to growing old.<br \/>\nI gathered my pieces together<br \/>\nand stood.<br \/>\nHow beautiful everything is!  I said.<br \/>\nHow gentle and helpless our affection<br \/>\nwhen things kill us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This winter is beautiful and savage. I love the snow.
