Why did the grapes of my life
\nripen so late?
\nWhen the sun is setting.
\nWhen the heat has passed
\nand the gray fog of winter
\npeeks from the shadows.
\nIt reminds me of season\u2019s end
\nwhen the flowers brave a day or two
\nthen bend in weariness from the cold.
\nTheir petals looking like paper
\npeppered with time.<\/p>\n
Life gets harder as you age,
\nbut in an irony more beautiful.
\nMore quick to love and hope,
\nwith the irony of its certain passing.
\nThat is the vision life leaves.
\nThat everything is contradiction in the end.
\nThat life\u2019s lessons do not prepare you
\nfor wisdom, for resolving its puzzles.
\nOnly the sunrises and sunsets
\nthat sparkle in the eyes,
\nand cause you to weep without sorrow,
