{"id":2964,"date":"2016-04-19T01:00:30","date_gmt":"2016-04-19T00:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=2964"},"modified":"2016-04-17T21:49:28","modified_gmt":"2016-04-17T20:49:28","slug":"trash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=2964","title":{"rendered":"Trash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I throw out bones and shards of glass,<br \/>\ncrushed paper and shelled nuts,<br \/>\njournals of birth and death,<br \/>\npixilated pictures,<br \/>\nscarred eyes.<br \/>\nRemnants of technology,<br \/>\nsome in the coffins of their boxes,<br \/>\nmisunderstood, misused,<br \/>\nmagic to my 12th century intelligence,<br \/>\ngarbage that originated in the tropics.<br \/>\nAluminum cans that sucked up<br \/>\nthe energy of a sun to make.<\/p>\n<p>DNA shaken from my hands<br \/>\nand feet and hair,<br \/>\nleaving something called me behind,<br \/>\nand the first animal that ever said a prayer,<br \/>\nunheard and wasted.<br \/>\nBirds that lent their wings to BAR-B-Q,<br \/>\nnever having felt the air or flown.<br \/>\nRoses perishing in coffee grounds,<br \/>\ncoffee itself leached of caffeine<br \/>\nwhich made a poem,<br \/>\nwrote a letter of farewell,<br \/>\nand called friends on the phone.<\/p>\n<p>What would someday be discovered<br \/>\nin this pile of fragments,<br \/>\nwasted garlands,<br \/>\nthe unpaid bill they send<br \/>\nto the world?<br \/>\nLife, as full as a city<br \/>\nof evaporating light,<br \/>\nstars crushed in salt,<br \/>\npoured on plates,<br \/>\nshowing the explorer,<br \/>\na place that once held songs,<br \/>\ncovering rocks with tide<br \/>\nand dreams becoming the sound<br \/>\nof lost, unheard voices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I throw out bones and shards of glass, crushed paper and shelled nuts, journals of birth and death, pixilated pictures, scarred eyes.
