Being late
\ncan be sooner than I want to be.
\nFor death,
\nI can say,
\na cataclysmic star descended,
\nit made the sky so white
\nI forgot to keep our appointment,
\nand left death laughing
\nas I slink away.<\/p>\n
Another day I want
\nto be late for all engagements,
\nto meet
\nmy one true love again,
\nand say,
\nI canceled life for this moment,
\nto share your lips with mine.
\nSo much for punctuality.<\/p>\n
Returning books on time
\nis a fault I must work on
\ndiligently.
\nTo deny others their pleasure
\nis not right,
\nlike keeping children at the gate
\nwho want to play.
\nNever let it be said
\nI kept them waiting.<\/p>\n
But,
\nmust I improve every tardiness?
\nRefusing to pay some taxes
\nin a timely way?
\nComing late to boring parties?
\nBeing last in line at pornographic movies,
\nor late for speeches at political rallies?
\nSuch exceptions for timeliness occur.<\/p>\n
Is being late bad or good,
\nor something that\u2019s depending,
\non what excuses you may have,
\nhow many people you\u2019re offending,
\nor at most,
