The children put their love and fury
\nin the doll house.
\nThey ascend the stairs
\nto their beds.
\nMove the furniture about
\nlike playful spirits,
\nwhile diminutive faces
\ngaze from the chairs.
\nThey speak to their friends,
\nto their make believe children.
\nListen to the dialogue,
\nhow direct and honest!
\nThere is trust between make believe
\nand themselves.<\/p>\n
The truth does not hurt them.
\nLife is empathy,
\nmonsters,
\nfairies,
\nthe script of their own reality,
\nand I note as much as I can
\nwho no longer sees or hears
\nwith such flawless understanding.
\nThe children are playing
\nin the doll house of the soul,
\nthe inner part of wonder,
\nthe place inside my heart
\nbegging me to let it out,
\nas I fumble with the keys
