\nis poetry or prose?
\nAre my bones the ribs of silence?
\nDo my teeth need a tongue,
\ngrinding and crunching?
\nYet they bite with tenderness,
\nlike feathers,
\nclosing on eyelids.
\nDoes my heart grow tired
\nof its traveling?<\/p>\n
I hear its footsteps in the night
\nand wish it had some rest and peace.
\nAnd why is my blood
\nthe color of cardinal flowers?
\nAre rubies the dried tears
\nof ancient animals
\nwho left only that part behind?
\nWill my blood be worn
\naround a woman\u2019s neck
