If I reach that time
\nwhen everything is done,
\nthe house is painted,
\nfriendships repaired,
\nthe goals of last year completed,
\nand I walk to the door and say,
\neverything is copacetic.
\nNothing needs to be addressed today.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve cut the grass,
\nwashed the windows,
\nsaid I love you,
\nto everyone I really love,
\nand I\u2019m a man unemployed.
\nAchieved what I\u2019ve been working for
\nto this moment.
\nLife is good.
\nAnd, as I smile,
\nhold my coffee,
\nsay good morning to a good morning,
\nmy hands tremble,
\nmy spirits sag,
\nI feel a despair that has no meaning,
\nand discover a truth.<\/p>\n
I do not want to arrive
\nwhere I\u2019m going!
\nI do not want to say,
\nthis is my last poem,
\neverything is perfect,
\nI have no engagements today.
\nI can take a walk
\nand never return,
\nbecause all my work is done,
\nall the hoping is over,
\nthe tiredness of labor,
\nI am unemployed!<\/p>\n
And now I know,
\nwatch out for what you pray for.
\nWealth that has no meaning,
\na garden that can live without you,
\nfriends who don\u2019t miss you
\nbecause you\u2019re a known quantity,
\nand becoming yourself is over.
\nA blank destiny,
\ntime at a standstill,
\nand your heart,
\nwhich should be breaking
