{"id":3816,"date":"2013-09-27T16:31:48","date_gmt":"2013-09-27T15:31:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=3816"},"modified":"2013-09-28T16:32:08","modified_gmt":"2013-09-28T15:32:08","slug":"evening-in-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=3816","title":{"rendered":"Evening in July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Did I see my last sunset?<br \/>\nDid my fear,<br \/>\nburst like a fire with nothing to fear?<br \/>\nHas the end reached for my hands<br \/>\njealous of their touching?<br \/>\nIs this an interlude, a limit?<br \/>\nHave I nothing left,<br \/>\nof the limitless waves that sing their songs?<\/p>\n<p>Other ears listen,<br \/>\nother eyes see further than mine.<br \/>\nWhen does a man know what time it is?<br \/>\nMy heart still fills like a sail with<br \/>\nall the words of the sea,<br \/>\nand my eyes hear<br \/>\nall the silences that blind men feel,<br \/>\nfree of ceilings and floors,<br \/>\nand because they are nowhere,<br \/>\nthey leap into the vastness of their lives.<\/p>\n<p>Am I so blind<br \/>\nthat walls are not walls?<br \/>\nI sit under my tree<br \/>\nin an indistinct darkening hall,<br \/>\nand remember back<br \/>\nas far as I can remember,<br \/>\nand think,<br \/>\nif I died, I died then,<br \/>\nnot now.<br \/>\nAnd if I look ahead,<br \/>\nI died then and not now.<\/p>\n<p>And if bewildered and very alone,<br \/>\nI choose to go on singing<br \/>\nas if anything mattered,<br \/>\nI choose one thing.<br \/>\nThat everything go on without me,<br \/>\nand I will leave a cup<br \/>\non my summer table,<br \/>\nwhich can fill with rain<br \/>\nfor someone\u2019s lips.<br \/>\nAnd that person<br \/>\nwill be the last love<br \/>\nof my life<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did I see my last sunset?
