How does one know where they are?
\nIf I were dropped on Earth
\nwithout signs or cities,
\nhow could I tell my whereabouts?
\nThe dust would not tell me,
\nit\u2019s too busy sleeping.
\nThe trees would offer shade,
\na hostel, but no travelogue,
\nno signs to anywhere,
\n60 miles to oblivion,
\nyou are leaving lost horizon, population one,
\nand so on.<\/p>\n
And is it not so of my life?
\nWhere am I?
\nIn childhood?
\nAm I overgrown with weeds?
\nHave I fulfilled my destiny? My parole?
\nDid I choose more right than wrong?
\nWho should have been my friends?
\nWhy do I work here rather than there?
\nWhere am I?<\/p>\n
Except my heart holds a great sadness.
\nIt holds wonderful joys.
\nI am afraid,
\nbut have nothing to fear.
\nWhere am I?
\nWho will come and guide me away?
\nTell me what house I should live in,
\nwhat cellar to bury my treasure,
\nwhere the bodies are buried,
\nwhere I put my lost soul.<\/p>\n
But I am not in a cellar,
\nI do not have Eden\u2019s garden,
\nI do not know where hell is.
\nI do not know how to plead at judgment,
\nbecause I do not know where heaven is.

\nNo one could tell me where I was

\nexcept I was given a number
\nand told to apply for benefits.
\nWhat are they…hope, love, knowledge, faith?
