I have composed
\nso many odes to weather,
\nto the decline of winter,
\nautumn\u2019s death,
\nthe pathways of summer,
\nrain,
\nwind,
\nholocaust and fury.
\nA sailor\u2019s history of seasons,
\nadvent of storms on the horizon,
\netchings of glass,
\nthe magnetic attraction of air,
\nforms of life
\nomnipresent in rooms and gardens.<\/p>\n
But turning the pages
\nof earth\u2019s diary,
\nI looked for life and death,
\nlove songs,
\nepiphanies,
\nstanding out from repetition.
\nAnd found nothing to say
\nabout weather,
\nto give to someone else.
\nExcept to the dear one
\nwho will bury me,
\nnote the weather,
\nand say to the diggers
\nready to cover my box,
\nthe weather\u2019s never right
\nfor a funeral,
