The good news is

\nshe was dead.
\nThe tide is out.
\nHere and there in the tide pools
\nare her belongings.<\/p>\n
She was a beautiful child.
\nA pretty woman.
\nThere was nothing profound in her life
\nexcept the miracle of life itself.
\nShe tried the best she could
\nto find happiness.
\nTo be complete in some fashion.<\/p>\n
As lives go, less hits than misses.
\nI always harbored a certain pity for her.
\nShe was too young for life.
\nHad she been clever
\nshe could have had roses.
\nAs it was she lived with relatives.<\/p>\n
Innocent and tattered she went to sleep,
\na blessed rest.
\nFor the first time I wanted to cry,
\nfor an injustice done to her
