{"id":4128,"date":"2014-01-03T17:21:19","date_gmt":"2014-01-03T16:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=4128"},"modified":"2014-01-03T17:21:19","modified_gmt":"2014-01-03T16:21:19","slug":"birthday-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=4128","title":{"rendered":"Birthday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Why do I have a birthday,<br \/>\nsing songs,<br \/>\nopen presents to amuse the people<br \/>\naround me?<br \/>\nTo have lived so many years<br \/>\nis an amazement to me,<br \/>\nbut no great accomplishment.<br \/>\nIt is the elemental,<br \/>\nthe waterfall,<br \/>\nthe drift of continents,<br \/>\nthat pushed the years away.<br \/>\nThat which fills a seacoast with eternity,<br \/>\nputs fire in a poppy,<br \/>\ncreates deserts out of stone,<br \/>\nand breaks a heart with a beautiful face.<\/p>\n<p>So I lived whether I had any say in it,<br \/>\nor not,<br \/>\nbut it is a charming time to be born,<br \/>\nin the middle of spring,<br \/>\nthe beginning of May in Ohio.<br \/>\nRed buds in bloom,<br \/>\ntrillium in the woods,<br \/>\nrue anemones with their graceful heads,<br \/>\ntaking another peek at the earth.<br \/>\nSomeday they may evolve into trees,<br \/>\nbut that is another story.<br \/>\nIt is a wonderful time though,<br \/>\nlike the twilight of waking<br \/>\nin a sunny room.<\/p>\n<p>Did I travel anywhere?<br \/>\nI know I did,<br \/>\nwhatever flows off unto itself,<br \/>\nlike the years,<br \/>\nbut I never mastered the sanctity of knowing<br \/>\nsomething of their meaning,<br \/>\nwhich with my breath<br \/>\nI can now blow out like<br \/>\nlittle stars, little fires.<br \/>\nSomething hurts in my heart<br \/>\nand I don\u2019t know what it is.<br \/>\nWonder at myself?<br \/>\nAt life?   My birthday?<br \/>\nA bluebird looking for a rainbow?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why do I have a birthday, sing songs, open presents to amuse the people around me?
