\nsing a song shouts the crowd!
\nDo what you will to entertain us!
\nSo before an audience
\nof ladybugs, ants, bees, raccoons,
\nI walked on stage and composed,
\nand sang,
\nand led them to hidden valleys
\nof romance and adventure.<\/p>\n
Then I bowed
\nand retreated to my house,
\nlistening to the buzz of wings,
\nthe scratching of feet,
\nthe stealth of ants.
\nEven a stray crow who crashed the gate
\ncalled out in appreciation
\nand flapped his wings.
\nRousing success.<\/p>\n
I had arrived
\nin the space of the small,
\nthe colonies of wax,
\nthe subterranean caves of eternal dark,
\nthe forces of sun and honey.
\nHaving tea at my table,
\nbefore a prairie of grass and bushes,
\nin the quiet of my porch,
\nI pondered what I had done.<\/p>\n
Who had heard my efforts,
\nwhat each of the creatures
\nhad taken away.
\nAnd in the blue foam of a huge sky,
\nunder the towering branches of the clouds,
\nand the wayward sails of the wind,
\nI knew I had ascended
\nlike an invisible whisper.
\nA pure shadow, into their world,
\nand they had seen a man
\nfor the first time,
\nwith thoughts like the wings of a butterfly,
\nthe heart of a dove.<\/p>\n
And I was accepted as one of their own,
\nand felt an infinite happiness
\nto be with the citizens,
\nof wheat and grass,
\nwho cross the floor of heaven
\nwith tiny feet,
