\nand the casualties are among them,
\nbetween seats and benches.
\nThe dead men, the old men,
\nthe provocateurs denying age,
\ncounted by silence, by empty spaces.
\nIt is autumn in the aftermath of summer.
\nTwilight cooling the warm afternoon,
\nthe shimmering heat of roads and streets.<\/p>\n
It is a statement of more or less,
\nor nothing.
\nAffairs still vivid in the women\u2019s eyes,
\nthe putting away of musical toys,
\nthe turning off of lights and going home,
\ntwo by two, or more,
\nunsure of the house, the door,
\nthe rooms they enter in the dark.
\nAnd a question inside each of them,
\nis this all that\u2019s left of dreams,
