\nfor the accumulated wreckage
\nof my life.
\nFor the tired feet that are puzzled.
\nFor the eyes staring into my hands.
\nFor my brothers and sisters
\nlooking into shadows of dissolving dreams.
\nThe old and sick
\nwithout the relief of inspiration
\nand acceptance.
\nHere, I said to Providence,
\ndo what you can.
\nRelieve the old and sick
\nof their fear and pain.
\nRewrite fate gently,
\nthat will be coming in the afternoon
\nof life, for my children
\nand children\u2019s children.
\nLet me return a used heart
\nfor what was enjoyed,
\nfor whatever balm it can bring.
