{"id":713,"date":"2010-09-19T23:33:40","date_gmt":"2010-09-19T22:33:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w7m.3ee.myftpupload.com\/?p=713"},"modified":"2010-09-19T23:33:40","modified_gmt":"2010-09-19T22:33:40","slug":"what-time-is-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theodorewaterfield.com\/?p=713","title":{"rendered":"What Time Is It?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Something in my heart<br \/>\nthreatens to break.<br \/>\nA child will always pick up<br \/>\nwhat\u2019s beautiful.<br \/>\nThe child will watch the sun<br \/>\nfly past all day.<br \/>\nA child weighs hours<br \/>\nby the weight of shells and marbles,<br \/>\nand buries dead birds<br \/>\nwith honor and compassion.<\/p>\n<p>My question is,<br \/>\ndoes my youth<br \/>\nunderstand my old age?<br \/>\nDoes my youth understand<br \/>\nnew truth better<br \/>\nthan my old age understands<br \/>\nold truth?<br \/>\nI run to tell<br \/>\nwhat I see new,<br \/>\nto someone else,<br \/>\nthrough a window,<br \/>\nunder rain,<br \/>\nin a flash of lightning,<br \/>\npicking up a penny<br \/>\nfor the beauty of its face,<br \/>\neverything with awe and wonder.<\/p>\n<p>And when the sun goes down<br \/>\nwhich grain of sand<br \/>\nfalls through the hourglass?<br \/>\nWill there be another<br \/>\nto fall in love,<br \/>\nto watch clouds build up,<br \/>\nhold dead things<br \/>\nand blow life in them,<br \/>\nand remember<br \/>\neverything I heard<br \/>\nfrom the day before,<br \/>\nto write new poems<br \/>\nin the new time<br \/>\nfrom its words,<br \/>\nand tell my old age,<br \/>\nit\u2019s alright<br \/>\nto be so young?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Something in my heart threatens to break.
