To be a mendicant

\nTo have binocular eyes
\nwatching the night go past.
\nAh…that is good stuff.
\nThat is laughter.
\nThat is a shower of tears inside me.

\nand become an invisible prayer.

\nwhen my ears were new.
\nSmelled, when my nose was
\na little pug.
\nWhen my lips circled words
\nand blew them in the air.
\nThat is me looking at a cat
\nsearching for a mouse
\nalong a hedge.
