As a penitent I bring my prayers to God.
\nNot because I believe in it,
\nbut because I can not live without it,
\nGod from whom I draw breath for my soul.
\nI can not witness the beauty of people,
\nof arbors overgrown with flowers,
\nthe pure rinse of rain falling from heaven,
\nthe love I feel for family and others without
\nknowing it comes from a different kingdom.<\/p>\n
It is my destiny to worship.
\nTo light candles in the dark.
\nTo sing psalms like a chorus of lullabies.
\nTo lift my DNA from dust in triumph.
\nI am a holy man.
\nA godchild, naive and innocent.
\nI need baptism, redemption, patience,
\nand hold nothing to account except myself.
\nDust from which a flower grows
\nredeeming me with God\u2019s immaculate face
