Songs have seasons.
The telltale gloom of winter.
Whimsey in the spring.
Summer heavy with jade.
Fall, falling on its face
from too much drink.
A debauch of grapes turned to wine.
October’s opal,
brassy sun,
midday heat,
frost at dawn.
Serene,
a dance of moods,
affairs of color and kites,
porcelain clouds,
unsettled sails,
immeasurable ceilings
of transparent blue,
and autumnal crushes
between the lips
of me and you.
