Oh, I know you so well!
The wind off the sea
that blows a cinder
in my eye.
The mysterious feet
that trail in the sand,
yet no one’s there.
I track life
to its dead ends,
and turning in the wind
feel my own life
blown away,
joining cyclones in the distance
you can hear leagues away.
All of this
pumps a finale in my veins,
calling
to find a place for me
among mermaids and monsters.
