Come back tomorrow
to ask about today.
I have filled it
with so many prayers.
Asked so much of Providence,
to grant my wishes.
I know it hears.
Its quiet invites me to speak.
I hear no closing of a door.
No rules of order.
No injunction
to speak when spoken to.
Only
somewhere in a depth
I don’t understand,
is an enormous heart,
which has a chair,
a smile,
a welcome,
that welcomes me,
and lets me in.
