There was one large star
in the sky last night.
It belonged to the sea,
so bright it opened
the canyons of the deep.
I saw into the fathoms
of the sea
like the heavens itself,
so huge you could not see
them all,
except this single drop of radiance
in the vast interior of its gaze.
The star and sea, each a part of the other,
like human love
striving to cross the bridges
of separation,
and become one with its lover.
Each a Part of the Other
