Writing a poem
is like catching something.
A nibbling on a hook.
Something
that could die
taken from the water.
A word,
a phrase,
flashes above the surface
and is snared.
But a poem
should not be
a prisoner of words.
A poem is not a craft,
or a trick.
It is a truth,
that being true,
is beautiful.
Poems emerge from the heart,
if caged by words,
cut it loose, and let
it have its freedom.
