Looking out the Window

I am disappointed growing up.
What had I expected?
The same place I knew
looking from my yard?
And I admit,
in where I was,
beauty was commonplace.
Where I arrived
was a brush fire
that eventually burned
up diaries,
leaving the wisdom
of childhood in ashes.
