I am trying to find enthrallment.
Where I left the past.
Where I put an empty coffee cup.
Threw a poem away.
Let my watery eyes
flood the tulips in my garden.
Trace the debris path
of my words and make shift prayers.
What I left hanging
in the places that I left.
Where the subatomic particles
of caring collected together.
The tock tick and tick tock
that stopped every time I blinked.
An orchard that deserved my gratitude
for the apple that I ate.
And then.
I realized the infinity of breathing.
How much is left behind.
Why people carve their names on trees,
to be found,
and join the place where you stand.
